Racist parents?

No, say it ain't so? Racist parents in Palo Alto? Yes, Virgina, there are bigots in PA-town. This parent - a self-described "cajun from the Big Easy" - pulled his kid from my class last week. Fantastic! One less kid and one less troublesome parental unit to deal with this year. Bravo! My IS made the right decision to move this child out of my class. He called himself a history buff - code for a know-it-all who knows very little. He objected to my showing GANGS OF NEW YORK as a appropriate movie for the period 1870-1910. He objected to my many references to discrimination against Catholics, blacks, Chinese. I should teach a happy version of U.S. history.

Well, one less fool to deal with this year! Amen!

Oh don't we love those parents. They challenge us to use all of our home training.

What specifically were they offended by? It is a violent film but by the discrimination and the racist jargon? LOL, did that not exist?
